The energy at the band meeting table these past few weeks has been electric, and it’s all down to a renewed commitment to driving forward and growing The Deadbeats… in part, because Gavin has officially received the all-clear!
Following his successful health journey and finally getting the medical green light back in early September, the rhythm section is finally whole again. That chemistry? It’s flowing faster than a double-time chorus. Thank you all for the support you showed him and us during that time—it meant everything.
Now that we’re back to full strength, the decision was obvious: it’s time to really kick our live show commitments into high gear, but just as importantly, we need to totally reboot how we talk to you, our fans. David, Gavin, and I got together immediately to map out the next few months, and we talked a lot about tickets, songs, and merch, but mainly about connection.
My Honest Take on Why We’re Doing This (It’s Not Just About Selling)
For years, we, like everyone else, poured lots of energy into social media—tweeting, posting, sharing. But let me be really honest about what I’ve learned about the importance of our newsletter mails: relying only on those platforms just doesn’t work for a band anymore.
The biggest frustration for me has been the control factor. The algorithms are constantly shifting, deciding who gets to see our news. It means our most loyal supporters—the people who actually want to buy a ticket immediately—often miss out because some random cat video or a heated political argument got prioritised over our tour announcement. That’s terrible communication, and it’s frustrating for you, too.
I realised that the email list is the only genuinely direct line of communication we have. It’s a space we own, unfiltered. It means that when we have something important—like a new show or a limited-edition drop—it lands right in your inbox, plain and simple. It feels more personal, like handing you a note. Our history shows that fans who are on the list are the ones who show up and keep this engine running. That’s why, going forward, the newsletter is going to be the absolute priority channel for everything important.

The last time we talked…
What We’re Sending You: The DeadBeat Fortnightly Insider
To get this right, we’re going to renew our mailing list activity with a strict, consistent schedule. These won’t be spammy filler emails; they’ll go out fortnightly with timely news and exclusive access.
The cool part, and why I really think you should sign up, is that these mailers will now carry exclusive ticket discounts to all our upcoming shows going forward. Seriously. Every single gig we announce will have a special deal just for our list members.
By joining this inner group—our DeadBeats—you will always be the first to know about shows, giving you a clear chance to grab early bird specials and access limited-time discounts that won’t be seen anywhere else, not even on our main social feeds. This is genuinely our way of prioritising and thanking our core audience for sticking with us.
I’m pumped to hit the road again, and I want you right there with us, getting the best seats, and the best prices, every time. So, if you haven’t yet, here’s your chance to sign up and officially become a DeadBeat.
