LONG TIME CITIZEN
Long Time Citizen is a vocal musical duo known for singles like “Come Back,” “Dark Horse,” and “Don’t Hang That Shadow Around Your Heart,” released to streaming for the first time in 2025.
Greg Donnelly and I first worked together in seminal SA rock band The Dollyrockers (“Suicide Annie” , “The Heat”), and went on to form this fun setup, playing some of our own songs, a few classic rock n rollers, and a few dark alternative covers in the mix. Guitar, bass and vocals .
Recent Releases (2025): “Dark Horse,” “Come Back,” and “Don’t Hang That Shadow Around Your Heart”.
THE DEADBEATS
The DeadBeats is a popular South African Alternative 80s cover band known for energetic shows, playing hits from bands like The Cure, Depeche Mode, and The Sisters of Mercy.
Where to find them: Performing at various venues in South Africa, often listed on Quicket.
Genre: 80s Alternative Rock, Pop, New Wave.

THE BACKBEATS
If you love The DeadBeats, you’ll adore The BackBeats, a trimmed-down edition of Cape Town’s favourite Alt80s band. David, Gavin and Anton present a “smaller” edition of the hits that made us do our hair funny, wear strange clothes and watch independent films!
This trio features David Beretta Owens (Lithium, N8tive), Gavin Essel (Monomen), and Anton Marshall (Me!).
